National Workers Compensation Summit 2009 Event overview

In 2009 the National Workers Compensation Summit moved to Melbourne for the first time, where it was met with great success.

Many thanks to everyone who helped to pull National Workers Compensation Summit 2009 together. There are far too many people to mention, but I'd like to give particular thanks to our engaging and dedicated speakers.

The array of topics covered, and the variety of industry's represented ensured a comprehensive conference with lots of networking opportunities, where you were able to design your own program through the number of streams running

Chief Executive Officer of Comcare, Martin Dolan addressed the Summit about the challenges facing Comcare in 2009, and was able to answer pressing questions about where to next for Comcare.

The Summit was delighted to welcome Victor Schultheiss from Germany to add an international flavour to the event. Victor compared and contrasted Australia’s workers compensations systems with what is happening in Europe and how Australia can learn from international developments.

Angelica Vecchio-Sadus from CSIRO presented an extremely relevant case study focusing on maximising injury prevention in an organisation and Jackie Burke, from the NSW Rape Crisis Centre gave an engaging and practical presentation about identifying psychological in high risk work places, and intervening in situations of psychological health hazards.

Craig Bosworth added a new dynamic and perspective to the Summit as he discussed what and how private health insurance and workers compensation in Australia can learn from each other.

And for those who weren’t rushing to the airport on Wednesday afternoon, NAB's Dean Stone gave a very interesting presentation about resolving workers compensation disputes and obtaining better outcomes for all parties involved.
And of course, who could forget the National Workers Compensation Summit dinner and networking drinks? Giving everyone a chance to meet workers compensation professionals from around Australia, it was an ideal way to relax and unwind down by Melbourne’s Dockland’s precinct
