Training initiative to enhance safety in oil and gas industry
WA Training and Workforce Development Minister Peter Collier has launched a new training initiative to reduce the hazards faced by oil and gas personnel.
The initiative is a collaboration between Challenger Institute of Technology, Woodside and Sage Technology.
According to Colllier, future workers in the resources industry will be trained at Challenger’s Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training in a web-based permit to work system that is poised to become an industry benchmark.
Sage Technology donated the SageSURPASS software used in the initiative. The system is said to be stable and user-friendly.
Collier claims the training will contribute to better safety management and equip workers with the skills that industry needs.
